"Carp" manages a non-profit church owned coffee house that funds a community teen center. The coffee house is staffed primarily with volunteers to keep expenses low, which means he also fills in a lot of gaps in the schedule. He regularly works 50-60 hours per week, in addition to the time he spends volunteering for other organizations within the church. Carp rarely takes time off for himself and when he does it is usually just a day or two here and there so that he doesn't have to leave the shop unattended. As a result of his hard work and diligence he has managed to create a successful "third place" environment for our community in less than two years. The funded teen center provides a safe, positive environment for 20-30 kids each day who would otherwise be on the streets or home alone. He cares for all around him and works magic to create a successful business combining faith, volunteers, community services, and kids all on very little salary. He and his wife deserve a vacation.
